As of Saturday morning, Xbox’s status page remained red, indicating that the Game Pass store and subscriptions were experiencing major outages. The display of games available on Game Pass was also offline and could be missing details on certain titles.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m. ET, the team posted a status update, reporting that resolving the issue is “taking longer than expected.” No new updates have been posted to the official Xbox X account, and inquiries continue to be directed to the status page.
It remains to be seen whether those affected will see a fix by the weekend.
At the time of writing, it’s 5pm Pacific time, and Xbox Game Pass is still down, with no further word from official Microsoft channels.
The Xbox status page remains red, indicating that Game Pass is experiencing a major outage, and Xbox Support X accounts continue to send queries to the status page.
We reached out to a Microsoft spokesperson for more details, but they have declined to respond since our initial email.
It’s unclear why Game Pass is having issues. As has been previously suggested, the CrowdStrike outage could be causing ripple effect issues. Accounts trying to pay for recurring or new Game Pass subscriptions are experiencing issues with payments not being sent between July 17th and July 19th, when the CrowdStrike outage occurred.
Another theory is that the upcoming price increase in September, coupled with issues with the calendar and clock, will prevent subscriptions from being renewed. Maybe Microsoft doesn’t want people to buy new subscriptions and keep the old prices.
I’ve seen X-users and Reddit users claiming it has to do with Modern Warfare 3 being hacked yesterday. I can’t confirm if MW3 was hacked or not. It seems the game or servers were plagued with a “Detrick Guernsey” error code, which also affected Modern Warfare 2. However, this appears to have been a PC issue, not an Xbox One issue.
We’ve received reports that you can continue playing games even when disconnected from the internet, such as when Xbox Live goes down.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t help with games acquired via Game Pass or certain multiplayer games that require the service to access.
The outage is still ongoing, with some users being unable to access Game Pass for nearly 24 hours, meaning they are unable to enjoy their Xbox games.
The PC version of Game Pass does not appear to be affected.
It’s also a big weekend for multiplayer games, with the Modern Warfare 3 remake coming to Game Pass and the new Valorant beta also launching today. Plus, EA’s highly anticipated College Football 25 It debuted last week and people are still going crazy over this amazing football game.
A Microsoft spokesperson contacted us about the Game Pass outage, and unfortunately, they didn’t provide any further information beyond checking out their status page.
“We are working to resolve an issue that may affect game subscription renewals for some members. https://xbox.com/status For status updates, see .
It’s 3PM Pacific time and Game Pass is still having issues, with reports of the issue dating back to 5PM yesterday and a fix appearing to be in the works.
If not, then we can assume that this Game Pass outage could be global, as people from all over the world are reporting issues on Twitter and Reddit.
While there’s been no official word from Xbox’s side, there is a small change on the Xbox status page indicating that this Game Pass issue may last longer than 24 hours.
It states that the initial outages, both for the sign-in issues and the issues with watching games, were reported at 9am this morning (July 26th), but this doesn’t seem correct unless you’re considering last night’s issues as a separate issue.
An even more interesting update is that the issue is not expected to be resolved until around 5:55 AM tomorrow (July 27th).
Those affected may still be waiting overnight.
On Reddit, Reddit users claim: I contacted Xbox Support and they told me they were working on a fix and would send me an email with instructions and information on how to fix the subscription renewal issue.
We’ve reached out to Xbox for comment and will update if we hear back, but we didn’t get anyone from Xbox to respond during the last outage, so we don’t expect a response this time around either.
This Game Pass outage has now lasted nearly 20 hours.
Xbox players have speculated that it may be related to an upcoming game. Game Pass price increase.
The price increase won’t officially go into effect until September 12th. Reddit users and X users Xbox Support claims that you should cancel your subscription and renew it, but to do so at a higher price of $19.99 instead of the current price of $16.99.
Redditor Knaught said, “Yep, I just got off online support. I was like number 107 and was put on hold for over an hour. Took another hour to get repaired. My subscription was cancelled and signed up again. Really annoying. I had my monthly payment date set for that month and they changed it. I can’t believe how stupid this whole thing is because of these greedy price gougers. During support I told them it was awful they don’t acknowledge users’ issues. In a follow up conversation she assured me they are now aware of the issue. They charged me $16.99 this month and gave me some Xbox balance points so my next bill was only $16.99 instead of $18.99.”
One error screen we see multiple times in screenshots is for extending a Game Pass, an error that tells gamers, “You already own this.” It could be related to the system blocking it when trying to extend it past a price increase, but this is purely speculation.
Game Pass continues to be hit with some hiccups.
Only a few days left Massive CrowdStrike Outage It has affected businesses and government agencies around the world.
Some Reddit users have speculated that the Crowdstrike crashes may be causing lag in the Xbox system.
A fix for Crowdstrike was released earlier this week, so this is probably not the culprit, but it must be a clock or calendar issue within the Game Pass system. Some reports Accounts with subscriptions expiring around July 17-19 have seen payments put on hold since then.
The Crowdstrike outage began on July 19th.
As of 3:20 PM ET, the Game Pass outage is still listed as a major issue on the Xbox status page, with separate issues with Game Pass purchases and viewing Game Pass games still affecting it.
Other than acknowledging that the outage is ongoing, Xbox hasn’t released any information about a potential timeline for resolving the issue.
