“Really?” said the stranger.
“That’s where I grew up,” Munda said. “I live in Vegas now.”
As they officially introduced themselves, new friend Jess Coleman looked at her for a while.

Finally, he said, “Hey, I know you! I’m in the carpool with your mom.”

After some comments about how great it is, Coleman said something else that almost knocked her out of her seat: “How are you?”

He shrugged as she looked at him in surprise. “It’s a carpooling. I can hear my mom talking to you on the phone.”

In other words, they could not have surgery unless there were donors waiting to provide 60% of their liver.
Coleman asked the doctor to test him. Why couldn’t he become a potential donor?
At first, he resisted, and the doctor ultimately accepted his rationale. After all, he was going to be her husband, so wouldn’t he consider it to be “emotionally connected”? The doctor agreed to take the first step. Test him.
The couple went on to their wedding.
