Well, it was a quiet, pleasant Friday afternoon until Hello Games’ Managing Director, Sean Murray, decided to drop a globe-shaped bomb on the internet.
Say what you want about Murray, but he knows how to get people talking. One Tweet The tweet, sent out today, contains just one emoji. Fans’ reactions to Murray’s Earth emoji tweet have been hysterical as they scramble to decipher its meaning. Could this be a hint that another update for No Man’s Sky is on the way? After all, there are planets in that game – lots of planets, in fact – and Earth is a planet too.
It’s equally possible that Murray is hinting at news about Hello Games’ upcoming open-world survival RPG. Don’t light the fireWe still don’t know what it’s all about, nor does it have a release date, and so far a big part of its marketing has been its ambition to create a single planet the size of real-life Earth, hence the emojis.
Whatever it is, Hello Games fans are furious.
“If this was another NMS update I’d be super excited. If this was Light no Fire news I might explode.” Read a single tweet React.
vice versa, Another fan wrote“If this is another NMS update, I’ll explode. If it doesn’t catch fire, I’m not as excited, but I’m still interested.”
“Light No Fire is supposed to be the same size as Earth.” Another fan correctly pointed out“Is this the usual NMS fracas or something else?”
And as per tradition, there are plenty of crazy reactions depicted in GIF form.

You understand the situation.
To be fair, the idea that something important is about to be revealed about Light No Fire doesn’t seem like a genuine hope for the reasons mentioned above. Also, this is Hello Games’ first new game in eight years, so the extreme reaction is not unwarranted. The ball is in your court, Murray, so don’t disappoint us.
