I went a bit further to find the supposed parent company, Shenzhen Wanchuangxing Technology Co., Ltd., and its Alibaba page, but found no information about its use of user data. The company actually sells industrial manufacturing equipment and consumer health trackers.
So while it’s useless as a wearable and potentially harmful when it comes to data usage, the bottom line is: don’t be fooled, even if it looks like an Apple Watch or Fitbit. If you have less tech-savvy friends or family thinking about buying one, even as a gift, tell them not to buy it. Instead, check out the deals on more useful devices and spend a little more money on a tracker that will actually be useful to you.
